I'm very excited to announce that I'm a part of a brand new Milwaukee area offering. On Thursday, March 26th, from noon until 9 p.m., employers and job seekers will come together to try a new kind of job networking event, a Milwaukee JobCamp. What is it? Think of JobCamp as a twist on your typical, boring sorts of job fair events. In addition to building some core breakout sessions that we believe will be of great interest to both employers and job seekers, we're following the popular BarCamp format, meaning that if you have an idea about the job search, or a great new way of identifying potential employees for your organization, or if you'd like to just have a session where you talk about potential new business startup ideas, you can propose a session and get others to attend.
The event is going to be held at Bucketworks, just north of downtown off of the McKinley exit of I-94, so getting there and parking is a snap (there's plentiful street parking for at no charge).
We're still planning the program and talking to sponsors for the event, but a few have already lined up, including Jobing.com and the Milwaukee Career Network. Stay tuned for more updates as I have them!
In the meantime, we have set up a Meetup.com group for those interested in signing up early and proposing sessions. The cost of entry for job seekers, by the way, is free. Well, almost. We're asking that you bring a non-perishable food item that we can dontate to a local food bank.
By the way, if you're interested in helping us to plan and set up the event itself, head on over to our WISPRR Ning site and join in the conversations.
